Description
This Rare BAKER UNIVERSITY Tobacco Felt featuring the school seal inset into a shield crest , was issued
by the American Tobacco Company as a Premium in their Brands of Cigarettes and Tobacco in 1908 (I.E. Fatima , Turkish Trophies, Satin, Piedmont, murad ect.).. This felt is from a series of felts designat
ed
as B16 Type 1 in Burdick's American Card Catalogue. Burdick indicates that these were not issued with a fringe as other series of tobacco felts were. It is the larger size, measuring 8 x 5 1/2 inches approximately This is a tough variation featuring the School Seal within a fancy Shield, the borders of the felt feature sports images. This felt features ROWING OR SCULLING OARS . This one has some slight edge wear/fraying however it is free from rips, tears or stitch holes. I think it displays very well. I have scann
ed
felt fairly large for you to judge condition for yourself .
This 110 year old collectable would make an excellent display piece fram
ed
with a College or University acceptance letter or degree
. As it is over 100 years old it qualifies as an official American Antique. It has huge cross over collectable potential. Both collectors of Tobaciana and College Sports Memorabilia would desire to have this unique item in their collections. It would look great in any dorm room and would make a great gift for any Alumni or Freshman as a back to school gift?
I will be trying to list several EARLY TRADE & TYPE CARDS over the next few days (spread across different categories),
including one or two that are unrecorded in any guide, that were put given away with Tobacco, Caramel, Candy, Gum, Chocolate, Bread Coffee Tea Cereal and other products, covering such diverse subjects as Native American Indians , Baseball , Football, Boy Scouts, Ice Hockey, Golf, Presidents of the United States and Circus themes. To view the other cards I have up on ebay please click on the “View Sellers other Items” Icon located on this page. It will take you directly to them.
I am actually located in Canada just across the border
. I have a U.S.A. mailing address, and I mail my items from the USA to avoid border delays.
Due to my work schedule and distance to the post office I am only able to ship Monday Mornings
. If I haven’t received payment for an item the EVENING BEFORE Monday the item will have to wait until the next Monday to go out. Its unfortunate but unavoidable. If this doesn’t work for you I respectfully ask that you do not bid. Thanks again
