Nice vintage thermometer from New Jersey
Located a reference to Allen Hardware on a site "Seeking my Roots". Publication titled 1853 Hackettstown to1953 which shows Allen Hardware was initially Hoffman Hardware established in 1906 and then renamed Allen hardware in 1945. See one of the pictures.
I also found an ad in a 1956 Centenary College Yearbook
The thermometer measures about 8.5 by 3 inches. It does have the damage to the top.
Mercury is not split and thermometer still works.
