Vintage Virginia Truckee Railroad Metal Thermometer - Queen Of The Short Lines. A very hard to find thermometer with a nice enameled logo at top. Condition: this thermometer as a typical alcohol thermometer but the color of alcohol has faded and it can be hard to read unless your up close. It also reads a couple degrees shy from accurate and I believe that is because a segment of the alcohol has separated and sits about 3/4” above the reading line. (See 7th picture). It is my assumption that if the temperature rose to about 95 degrees the separate segment would join the rest of the alcohol making this more accurate, but I haven’t done this and don’t know for sure. Thermometer also has some rust present, and some of the numbers smeared a little when I went to wipe the dust off, so be careful if you attempt to clean this. A very cool example of railroad advertising for a collection. Please see pictures as they are part of the description.
